Indian Railways in Nepal (+ booking from nepal)

India may lay four railway lines in Nepal to improve connectivity between Indian cities and the Himalayan nation.

"To forge better connectivity between Kathmandu and Delhi, Government of India is considering to bring four railway lines into Nepal," India's ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shanker Mukherjee said.

Inaugurating the first ever computerised ticket counter of Indian railway in Kathmandu on Friday, Mukherjee said the implementation of the railway projects will bring the people of India and Nepal more closer.

More from the article.

(including China's plant to extend rail network from Lhassa to Xigatse and maybe to Kathmandu.)

A cargo train began operating between Sirsiya in southern Nepal, and the coastal Indian town of Raxaul in 2003. Looking forward to see the passenger services between India and Nepal. Government of India is also considering plans to connect Myanmar with Railways, which enables the people to travel upto malaysia/singapore in train, but not very soon.
