Hola!

I'd like to know if there's a cheap way to go from India to Sri Lanka...? since we'll be travelling all around India, including the south (Chennai, Thiruvanathapuram), I thought that maybe there is a way to avoid a flight. Is there? I'd appreciate any tips on this thanks!

there are not many choices
to go from India to Sri lanka

the cheapest way(a part from swimming ) is to fly from trivandrum to colombo

should be around 80 to 120 dollars for a return ticket

You can only fly from chennai or Trivandrum to colombo, there is no ferry service or anything. It should cost appox $150. When in chennai, drop in a mail to get more support - rhytha @ gmail . com

Yes sadly the only way to get there now is to fly.
Long gone are the days when you could catch the ferry from Rameshwaram, which is the island connected to India by the "Adams Bridge" over to Talamanner, It took about an hour & a half,,,,,,,,,

Just to let you know, you can fly to Colombo from Bangalore too - I'm doing this (both ways) with Sri Lanka Airlines.

Trivandrum - Colombo is the cheapest and shortest route
Still no sea route despite the rumours
Then let us pray that come it may
(As come it will for a' that),
That Sense and Worth o'er a' the earth,
Shall bear the gree an a' that.
For a' that, an a' that,
It's coming yet for a' that,
That man to man, the world, o'er
Shall brithers be for a' that.

thanks for the link sticky! their fares seem pretty reasonable... and on a random note (just because your in Adelaide) my next door neighbour just moved out to return to is homeland of Adelaide, he left about a week ago... but he left his ceiling exhaust fan running.

Yesterday morning we woke up to 4 firetrucks attending to the house and ajoining duplex. It was hilarious!! (noone was hurt )

... so watch out for this guys now that hes in your part of the world
His name is Stewart and he'll be distinguishable from his red eyes and the way he craps on about how good BMX is and good he is at it and how good he is at everything else. Best give him a wide berth and certainly don't agree to live with him.. the previous house he stayed in in Canberra kicked him out after he plowed his car into the back of another housemates car.. leaving them with the bill.. and now this one almost burnt down.

Sorry for the rant but I'm kinda glad that this guy is outta my hair! Lol

Thanks for the warning, I'm sure Adelaide is just like Canberra: 2 degrees of separation, instead of the usual 6! (probably 1.5 in Canberra actually!) - He will probably end up being my friends cousin, or move in next door to me or something.

My girlfriend and I booked our plane tickets yesterday. The agent we spoke to was a friend of my cousin, and had been out trail biking with him and my little bro the day before - and my girlfreinds family and his family are friends. *insert twilight zone music here*

Nice work on the flights, i read your other thread.

And yeah I'd say 1.5 is a good estimate for Canberra, maybe even just 1 (And his name is Moxy .. i swear this guy knows every single person in this God Foresaken town!)

Good luck not running into Stew! If you do meet him mention the fire, and laugh , then metion the car thing and laugh again. Hopefully he'll be freaked out enough to never speak to you again! (ok now I'm starting to get over the top ... hes an idiot but hes not an evil super villain or anything)

Anyways have an awesome time in India/London and where ever you happen to stop along the way!
