India to Germany

hello all.

i'm going to be in India Jan/Feb next year for a course in New Delhi. I'm wanting to head to Germany to visit family by around June/July. I've got time and want to make the most of the journey (though also, see more of India before leaving).

What do people think is the best options to get from India to Germany? Regarding...

cost effectiveness/enjoyment/seeing things?

also, travel that is somewhat easy to do. This will be my first time travelling in non-English speaking parts of the world (I'm Australian), and the prospects of multiple visas, organising accommodation on the go and communication will all be new to me.

though i'm after an adventure.

Should i go
India-China-Russia->Germany
or via Turkey.

or should i do some overland and fly into Germany

Thanks. Joel

Hi AusJoel, welcome to Indiamike.

From your question I can't really understand whether you're planning

a) to travel around in India and then take a flight to Germany
b) to travel overland from India to Germany

Option a) would be very easy to arrange, option b) needs some planning. You can get some info here: Travelling Overland From Europe to India
Although it's the opposite direction most information would be the same.

sorry for my poor communication.

I'd like to travel overland, as much as possible, but i understand parts are more difficult (i.e. going via pakistan).

So i was thinking of an option that would involve some overland travel - i.e. India-Nepal-China, and then a flight that would give me a feeling of overland travel.

Or if people thought it was worthwhile going fully overland. what routes are easiest?

-thanks for those links, i've been reading those and others over the past days.

Just a suggestion: Choose one or two routes you're interested in and post the itinerary and ask for comments, probably you'll get more responses like that.

One of the most frequent overland traveller of IM is currently en route, so he won't read here often (if ever). But if he does, he can give you a great insight about the situation at the moment, especially when you ask specific questions.

Yes thats right Federica. The gist ,is to find his posts and syphon information that others have included.By doing this it is possible to answer the questions you have asked.
May i also suggest that the easiest route is not always the best
one. By travelling the road that others have been along is not really allowing the spirit of adventure and chance to play a part in your life. Go, do your trip in your way, and tell us about it when you have time.May the highest power in the universe be with you and guide you. Martinez.....
