Does anyone have recent experience traveling from India to Pakistan and back via Wagah border (between Amritsar and Lahore)?
Here is our sitaution. We are both American citizens from birth, but one of us was born in Pakistan (parents worked there). We have India tourist visas and will visit India this June. (The Indian consulate in the US asked to see proof of birth as American citizen before issuing a tourist visa for the one oin our party who was born in Pakistan). We'd like to go across to Pakistan for a couple of days to see Lahore, then back to India, crossing at Wagah. I understand Indian tourist visas are multiple entry. My question is, will this be a hassle, especially crossing back into India with a passport that shows one of us having their birthplace as Pakistan?
Does anyone have experience with or knowledge about this?

I have a UK passport and crossed from India into Pak and then back into India (on foot) after staying in Pak for 11 days without any major problems.
The only problem I had was with a Pakistani Immigration Officer who claimed I was on a blacklist. After looking at his computer I was able to tell him that my name did not even match that of the blacklisted person. Then he offered to get my baggage through customs without any checking for a small fee. I told him I had nothing to hide and said he was free to check my bag. He thn stamped my passport and let me go, had no problems in customs either.
The coolies on both sides are a real pain in the behind. I used their services on the journey into Pakistan but not on the way back. On the way back to India it only took me 30 minutes to clear Pak immigration and customs and Indian Immigration and customs.
