India>Mandalay>Thailand?
Hi,
I'm new to the forum and going to be new soul travelling through India. I'm flying to Delhi, and am in the process of planning details but the general plan is to make my way through the Himalayas, west, then travel through Mandalay to Thailand where I will end my journey. Is there a better way of doing things and is there a train I could catch through Mandalay? |

Hi, and welcome to IndiaMike.
If you're talking about land travel as you seem to do, to my best knowledge and last time I checked, the only open land border Myanmar has is to Thailand, and that is sketchy and subject to sudden closures. (Hm, I read now there may sometimes be a way in from Yunnan, China -- but not out to there.) So there's no way to do it I think except for flying into Myanmar at least, if not out of there. This stuff should be readily available on the web & sort of the basics of your entire trip, so looks like you have some planning ahead of you... Guidebooks and so on should help you a long way. For international train travel including in Burma, try http://www.seat61.com/ .
