Is there anything I should know about getting through customs at the Kathmandu airport after arriving from New Delhi? Let's say theoretically I have human bones of some sort possibly in my luggage, can I get them into Nepal? What about potentially getting theoretical human bones of some sort out of Nepal to the US?

Why you have human bones, is it legal in this world to carry human bones?
Best Regards,

Getting them out might be tougher . . . where would these (possible) bones be going to (on the way out, that is)? That might be another story. Time for a karma-check . . .

Clearing customs in Kathmandu Tribhuvan airport on arrival is very easy.
Departure is another matter as they X-ray all the luggage before you check in. Human bones is bound to create some excitement unless you have proper paper work.

I was hoping to get one of those pretty skull tops. They're so hard to find in the US. I have a friend with one, and I'd really like one too.

Bringing human skulls into US is procedurally banned.

They are sold as a tourist item in Kathmandu. I'm sure people have taken them home before. I've never seen anyone complain here that their skull bowl was taken away on return home.

Are you saying that HUMAN skulls are being sold as a souvenir??? Where do they come from?

And to the OP:
Are there t-shirts with HUMAN bones woven into them?

Haven't heard all this before so please enlighten me.

So it turns out that it is illegal in Nepal to sell human bones/remains, but with enough time and money they can be obtained anyway. Whether or not they will get through customs is another question. I'm not sure if the Kathmandu airport customs check was all just a show or if it is actually effective.

I'm sure spending a night or two in a police lock-up at Kathmandu isn't what you are looking forward to. Of course you can wrap up the object in a blanket and ask someone else to take it through customs for you.
