I havent seen this thread for last 4 years ... so will check out the contact details. Must be out of date will post latest contact details here a bit later. It would be good to go to Kalapathar once before sunrise (for the atmosphere) and again at sunset for lighting. Solo woman should be no problem. But a porter is a must to carry your bag. The rate include a porter and his stay/food.The guy who arranged the porter for me was Puru - he had started his own Trek Agency later and below is his contact details as of Jan-2011 (maybe still valid):

Many thanks KS please update the numbers, that would be great. I agree about the porter bit, no issues there. Let us see if I can get a few friends to come with me as well. Where would you stay? Tea houses? How much would that cost or were you all pitching tents?

Already posted new contact numbers. I stayed in Teahouses everywhere. There are plenty along the trail every 7-8 Kms. I went solo with a porter. The costs I posted are including teahouse stay and food etc. in fact all inclusive, except the flights till Lukla. I didn't see many trekkers staying in tents. No idea about tent costs.BTW: There are many Trekking Agent shops in Thamel, Kathmandu ... maybe over 100 even. So you can even compare, pick and choose after you reaching there if you keep a spare day before starting trek.

@Mridula: After seeing my old posts (#42) have to revise the cost estimate I gave you in #119. My 2007 cost was INR 1000/- or NR 1600/- per day all inclusive. So maybe current should be NR 2000-2200/- per day with some inflation included.

Update cost received last week from a agency in Nepal.
"Porter per day INR 1080 per day
Yes the trek is tea house trek and you will stay and eat at tea house. The cost per person per day with stay and food is roughly INR 1400 to INR 1800 per person."
So roughly the cost per day per person having a porter works out to be approx INR 2880 upper limit. No bargaining done yet.

Yeah but on email one can expect them to charge more as compared to going to their shop and talking it out.. The trip is planned for end April. The flight to Luka is additional and his suggestion is to take porter from him instead of Luka so you pay the porters flight cost too
I did this to get a idea and feel before heading there..

I was also told about the porter bit but in all probability as I would do it solo, I will be more cautious. But then I have to wait for a few things to get decided at work and only then will I know if I can go or not. So I am not getting my hopes high.

My dates are fixed now, mid May, am using the same person Puru as suggested by KS. In the emails he sounds like a perfect gentleman. I am doing it from Lukla. Flights booked, advance paid, only waiting for May to come soon and for me to get on with my fitness.

Mridula, He was a gentleman in person too (at least till 2007, when I met him last in Thamel). Hope you got a good deal? If you don't mind, kindly share the Deal details; here on the Thread or via PM.
I have a Langtang-Helambu-Gosainkund Trek pending in Nepal, that I plan to do with his help. So your info may help me get a fix on the latest Rates.
Thanks and Best with Trek.

KS I have sent you a PM. I am quite excited now. I am doing it from Lukla to Lukla. Your blog links from these posts don't work. Can you give links to your trip account again? Any tips in general.
