Just a thought. It would appear that in terms of cost, one EBC trek is equivalent to 2 or may be 3 Uttarakhand treks.

Enjoy EBC trek .

Yes, Nepal treks are pretty costly. A daily average here with just a porter is coming to INR 1000 per day! whereas same in Uttaranchal or HP could have been done in INR 500-600 max. Plus the additional cost of getting to Kathmandu. Another major factor is the huge number of foreignors from West pushes up the prices! But, I guess its good for the local Nepali population. They are so well organised to cash-in on the dollar tourists!

U r flying from Lukla to Kathmandu. How much is that ticket? Is there an option of helicopter to do that. How much does that cost?

I am planning this trek next season and just curious to get a helicopter ride above the mighty Himalayas

At Jiri now

I reached Jiri by Bus yesterday after a 10 hr long drive in a local bus. Jiri looks nice and full of clouds and a bit drizzing. Today I start the trek 6 days stretchg to Lukla. May not hear from me nxt 6 days as i am told there is no cybercafe till lukla.

My flight tkt Lukla to KTM is 4500 NR, Porter is 2500. Not a helicopter flight. Those are diffeferent and called mountain flights. Dont know cost of that.

It is good to hear from you after 10 days. I guess, your trekking has so far progressed as per schedule.

EBC/ Kalapathar completed successfully!

Hi guys and wellwishers ... I just came back to Namche Bazar today.... after completing EBC and Kalapathar. I was really luckty the day I was at kalapathar the skies were without a wisp of cloud! So got great views of Mt Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse etc. The previous day visitors got only partial cloudy views. I must count myself really lucky and With God for such beautiful sight of Everest just in front of me! The trek has been pretty tough and tiring with steep ups and downs. I dropped Gokyo, thinking I will be unable to sustain this climbs and the cold. I have been pretty lucky so far, for having completed Jiri to EBC without any mishaps.

I hope to get back to LUKLA by 15th and catch a flight back to KTM and then to Bombay by 18th, I hope, if flights work out. Lots of photos to uplaod and share.

Bye and will post details later.

KS

KS,
Congratulations for completing Jiri-EBC trek.

Yes... one needs to be really lucky to view Mt. Everest and other peaks in a clear weather especially in the context of bad weather prevailing in some parts of himalaya in the last few days.
