Everest Base Camp trek costs (from Rombuk)
Further to my overland trip Lhasa to Kathmandu, we will have a stopover in Rombuk and a hike to the EBC from there. Then we will get back to our jeep at Lao Tingri and back to the road to Nepal.
I need to clarify a few questions: do we need a trekking permit for this short hike? how much would a guide cost (do we need one?) to do this hike Rombuk-EBC-Lao Tingri. many thanks v-v

Not very strenuous
Its not a very strenuous walk, considering that you are already acclimatized and carrying light daypacks.
In fact its easier to go to EBC [Tibet] than EBC [Nepal] in terms of trekking difficulty. Rules abt guide & permits on the Tibet side .... I don't know.
