Dudley is just to the north-west of Birmingham, about 10 Kms. and about 170 Kms from London.
There is a train from London at least every 2 hours from London's Euston station, the journey time is about 2 hours. The train is expensive unless you book at least a week in advance. There will be hourly buses to Birmingham (and some to Dudley) from London's Victoria coach station, the journey time to Dudley by coach will be about 3 hours. There is no cheap way of traveling around London. Where is your plane landing? and what time?

Where is the hotel in London?
Do you know how to get to the hotel from the airport? I know nothing about Dudley. London has far too many tourist spots to type, what are your interests? |

Hi
We are coming on a business trip to dudley for two weeks. We will be getting one saturday and sunday over there to visit places. So during the weekend we plan to come to london and do some sight seeing. London is a big city and i heard you need around a month to get around it. As you told we may not have to go around everywhere. We would like visit the Wax museum and some other interesting places and also we would like to visit a famous pub over there. Do u know any places in Birmingham. Is it a big place? Regards muteflower |

There choice of pubs is endless and depends on the area of London you'll be staying in.
Close to Madame Tussauds is the Metropolitan (Metro) Bar (as you come out of M.T's, turn right and the pub is on your right. There are lots of pubs near to the Stanley Gibbons stamp shop in the Strand. You will find out about Dudley and Birmingham's tourist places when you're in that area. There is a pub called The Prospect Of Whitby in Wapping, the list could be endless. http://www.pubs.com/index.html |

Not much to do in Dudley. It is a place I tend to drive past and have never stopped there.
There is the Merry Hill Shopping Centre, Dudley Zoo and the Black Country Museum. I went to Dudley Zoo as part of a school trip and it was pretty awful back then. You may find more places on following site. http://www.dudley.gov.uk/leisure-and-culture and for Birmingham http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/Generat...&MEN U_ID=126 |

To get to Dudley from London you will need to get a train to Birmingham then either a connecting train or a bus on to Dudley itself
Be warned Dudley is a very, very, very ugly place and the local dialect is guttural (being raised in the black country myself I'm qualified to say this) |

Dudley's OK!
Would have to disagree with the description of Dudley!
Dudley is a typical mainly working class Midlands town with a certain honesty about it! The dialect may be difficult for some people to understand and is unfairly the butt of some people's 'supposed' jokes in Britain. The last time I visited the zoo, the animals were by and large well looked after and a pleasant couple of hours can be spent there! The Black Country Museum in the area is definitely worth a visit too! For a Real Ale pub you could try: http://www.dudleycamra.org.uk/pubofyear.html By the way I do not live or come from Dudley! agreed the black country museum is great as is the Severn Valley Railway and Iron Gorge as well if you're venturing around the area - but having grown up in Lye and Stourbridge I will re-affirm that Dudley isn't that nice.
Glad to hear that the zoo is back open it has opened and closed so many times in my lifetime. Birmingham has some good days out - take a walk around the canals and Brindley Place (any brummie worth their salt knows that Birmingham has more canals than Venice ) and the new Bull Ring is fantastic if your into shopping - plus there's some good night life around the Arcadian area and a few really good museums.Whilst in the Dudley area - try and arrange a trip on the Black Country Bus a great night out, especially if you're planning on supping some local ale. |
