We are going to fly into Delhi then need to make our way to Pokhara for trekking. What is the best & cheapest flight options to get there, it can be in combo with a bus. Is it necessary to go via Kathmandu or are there more direct routes ?

Start trekking in late October, leave back for India in mid November. Plan to do Annapurna circuit to Jomsom, then the Scanturary trek.

Just trying to avoid Kathmandu as much as possible. Looks like it is inevitable though. I was surprised how dear the one way tickets appear from KTM to DEL, we though they would be relative cheap with all the Indian airlines flying in. We have to get tickets this week for the long hauls and still yet to decie if we go SYD-KTM then DEL-SYD, or get DEL return from SYdney and then a Kathmandu return from Delhi, all the really cheap fares ran out on the weekend and what remains is all about $250 dearer with more awkward connections.

You can directly fly to Pokhara from the smaller airports of Nepal only if you are crossing the border by road. So, unless you are crossing the border by road, you cannot avoid Kathmandu. At this point, depending upon the fare difference, you have to decide between SYD-DEL and DEL-KTM return flights or SYD-KTM, KTM-DEL and DEL-SYD flights.

The makemytrip site did have the best quote flying on Royal nepal, just under 12000 return DEL-KTM-DEL.

Seen the one way ticket is almost as much we may as well fly SYD-DEL-KTM go trekking the go KTM-DEL then travel and retun by DEL-SYD.
