Crossing to NEPAL from UTTARANCHAL
Helllo,
Is it still possible and safe to cross to west nepal from indian city of bambassa. I'm Currently in almora and think it'd be too much of detour to go through sunauli. I want to reach Pokhara... Thanks for any help and tips

There are no news suggesting that the Banbassa crossing is shut. So we assume status quo..... and suggest that you make the crossing AND intimate this forum that you did it successfully!

I checked the possibility of crossing through banbassa and it seems to be waste of time.
There is 7pm bus to banbassa. Takes about 7-9 hours. Arrives to the bordes to late to continue to Nepal. Stay overnight. Bus from Banbassa to either kathmandu or Pokhara takes about 19 hours. Too much time on the bus basically. I took jeep from Almora to Kathgodam - 3hours Train to Gorakhpur - 19:30-11:30 - 16 hours. BUT you can sleep. And it's much nicer. Gorakhpur to sunauli bus 2.5 hours Overnight stay at nepali side (or continue the same day, but bus stops at midnight till morning. You'll have to sleep in bus. Not fun) Sunauli - Pokhara - 8 hours on bus. That's all folks. Pokhara is really nice. |
