Crossing to Nepal from Uttaranchal and itinerary for trekking

Does anyone have any information on border crossings for tourists to Nepal from Uttaranchal? I saw a few posts mostly with questions and no firm answers from 3 or so years ago...

If not, any suggestions on itinerary for treking and exploring in late Sept. from Delhi through Himachal and uttaranchal on the way to Nepal? We have 5 weeks and are looking for overland routes. We're budget travellers but not ridiculously so (comfort and safety are nice too). We plan to do pindari glacier trek, want to visit spiti and kullu but just don't know what the best routes might be.

Thanks for any ideas.

I did the opposite direction 16 years ago. I forget the name of the town on the India side of the border. I think it starts with a B. But the town on the Nepal side of the border is Mahendranagar. From there you take a bus to Nepalganj, and from their to wherever you like. Kathmandu, Pokhara, etc.
As it was soo long ago, things could have changed, especially with the Maoist problems there now. But back then it was a breeze to cross into India. No problems.

Yes the town on the Indian side is Banbasa (not sure of spelling - sorry) and the crossing should not be a problem. It is a long haul to Kathmandu or Pokhara from Mahendranagar though. Flights from Nepalganj are frequent and you may get one from either Mahendranagar (very rare and highly seasonal) or possibly Danghadhi if you dont want to spend at least a day on a bus.

It is a long haul. Took me 3 day's from Pokhara back then to reach Ranikhet. But was a interesting route with some nice scenery along the way.
Thank's
