Hi

I am planning to visit china sometime at the end of this year. Can anybody give me any information on what the formalities for getting a Chinese visa are?

I found a site called Project Visa. It combines Visa info for all countries with relevant links for further help.

While enquiring about the formalities about obtaining a Chinese visa I got diffrent kinds of information from travel agaents. One said that it is not possible to obtain the visa from Kolkata and it has to be obtained from Delhi, can be through courier though. The same agent also said that if one has travelled abread before one need not show minimum bank balance of 1.5 lakhs.

The other travel agent said that it is possible to obtain the visa from Kolkata, one can do it personally also and one has to show minimum bank balance of 1.5 lakhs irrespective of previous record of foreign travel.

I would like to know the experience of anybody who has had got a Chinese visa from India or Kolkata to be even more specific.

I got a Chinese Visa in Canada and it was quite easy. No idea about getting one in India, though.
