China may lift Tibet permit rules
Good news, hopefully soon:
China may abolish permit restrictions for Tibet visitors The article says, maybe as soon as this winter. One possible good side-effect of The Train.

I wonder if this means the 'illegal' routes to Lhasa, from Kashgar, Kunming, and Chengdu will now open up.
In particular, Kunming to Lhasa is supposed to be a real treat for scenery. |
