Busses from Kathmandu to Pokhara
I have looked elsewhere but not much luck. SO I thought I would ask the best travel forum in the world where I might find this info. I am looking for a rough bus schedule for the route between Katmandu and Pokhara. I was thinking about going overnight, but then I would not be able to take in the scenery. Does anyone know where I might get a rough schedule. I am sure there are a ton of busses that ply this route. Just looking to get an idea. THanks in advance

Chris,
We took a bus from Pokhara to Kathmandu last year (After the ABC trek). There are no set schedules for these busses, but there is atleast one leaving every 30 - 40 minutes. We took a mini-bus and reached Kathmandu in 5 hrs. This one had just one "stop" inbetween - a 15 min break for lunch. We were told there are busses which stop more frequently and consequently a little cheaper. The scenery was'nt exactly breath taking, compared to those we saw on the trail. |

I don't traveling in night would be a very good option...we I did Kathmandu to Pokhara and back on a bike last November.
It gets too dark after 7 pm for comfort, there are no streetlights, no traffic for miles at a stretch.. |

Tourist buses leave every morning at between 7 and 8am. Head to Kantipath and you'll see them all lined up. The exception are Greenline, whose buses leave from their office on Tridevi Marg.

For a good stopover:
Visit Gorkha, about half way between Pokhara an Kathmandu. A nice plce to relax and do some hiking for a day or two. Hans
