Beautiful account of your journey through this unknown land. Thanks so much for sharing. I may have to re-plan my trip through North-East India now!

This is the best post on Bhutan. Thanks for busting myths .

I may have to plan my trip to Bhutan well before it is lost in the modern world.

Sadanand.

Thank you, Jyoti da. Yes, the bofors was in action. (For all those not into the joke from an old post, he calls my camera the Bofors gun)

Rajiv Anand, I read that link you posted about the bomb blasts in Bhutan. And that answered my concern, how long will peace reign... It is really sad that the world has to come to this.

Natasha - Vivid post - in fact so vivid(re:beautiful 800rps room in Thimphu) that I began nervously bagging my packs whilst on the line with my travel agent yammering to her (in an excitement-induced slurred pidgin english) a proposed flight plan to the land of the Thunder Dragon - when I suddenly realized that you were an Indian citizen, the $200.00/day surcharge still applied and my sudden notion of a budget jaunt to Bhutan was once again - pure fantasy.

...... ermmmm nice post anyway.

So sorry, PeakXV.
I should have put a disclaimer saying "all of this applies to Indians only". But the $200 a day for foreigners would include guide service, transport, accomodation and food, and all of it good quality service. You know that, right?
