Thanks for the inputs. I think, hotel Tandin is even more economical at around 1000 INR for double room. Will check them out.

@dipak58

Check out Yeedzin Guest house, central location, good quality rooms and affordable..has more character than Hote.l Tandin....of course the options increase if you look at beyond city center, but makes sense only if you have hired a vehicle for the trip.

Hotel Jigmeling and Hotel Phuensem are fine in Paro....check out the rooms first, and try negotiate

Thank you so much Ashok for sharing the information. Yes, for our group of 4, we will have a hired vehicle for the whole trip.

@Dipak58...if you plan to have a vehicle, both these hotels offer a great value...as mentioned by Souvik Sarkar.
The Thimphu location is infact a 2 bedroom apartment, a little away from city center with a balcony with amazing views..and the Paro property looks pretty good too.

Hi,

We are 5-6 members planning to visit Bhutan in April 2017. Our itinerary is as below:-

Day 01: NJP to Phuentsholing
Day 02: Phuentsholing to Thimphu.
Day 03: Thimphu ( day sightseeing) & then to Punakha.
Day 04: Punakha ( day sightseeing) & then to Paro.
Day 05: Paro Sightseeing
Day 06: Paro Chele La Pass Haa Valley
Day 07: Haa to Phuentsholing
Day 08: Phuentsholing to NJP

Is this itinerary fine?

Can any one suggest decent guest houses or home-stays in these places?

Is it possible to hire a vehicle for the entire trip (NJP to NJP)? If yes, what would be the cost?

Suggestions invited.

Thanks in advance.

Mr Prasad at B K Tours could arrange an Innova Vehicle NJP to NJP. Ask for a local Bhutanese driver and he will act as your guide too. Also with the ease of your own vehicle, you could stay a bit away of city centre at very reasonable rates. You will get a quote from B K based on your requirement (hotel star rating).

I am back from my Bhutan trip. It was an amazing experience especially playing in the snow. Let me answer the questions that I had asked in this thread.

1. Cost of Taxi from Thimphu to Paro
I got a full taxi for myself for roughly 3000/day wherein I visited Paro, Doeche La, Chele La, Phuentsholing, Thimphu and sightseeing in Thimphu and Paro. I know it was expensive but I had a taxi on demand where ever I went and I could go where ever and when ever I wanted. This was a good decision in hindsight because I saw many struggling for taxi in Paro during the snow day.

2. 2 out of 3 hotels had an Indian bank account. So, I was able to transfer to that account. The other one I blocked orally without paying anything.

Unfortunately online travel permit system is made available only to Bhutanese tour operators and TCB registered hotels. They can apply online on behalf of tourists travelling to Bhutan through them (as I understand).

Not an online open system for anyone to register. Hope, they would go a step forward soon.

Number of persons? I have one contact for Innova. But if you are 4 that won't be feasible for you.

You can always hire a cab on spot. Not an issue.
