Train 723 (Udayn Express) departs Chittagong at 21:00 and gets to Sylhet at 07:20.
This train does not run on Fridays. There seems to be no air con class on that train, below are the fares, though hopefully one of our Bangladeshi members can explain what the different classes are. 1st Class (Berth) = 490.00 Taka 1st Class (Seat) = 320.00 Taka Shuvon (Chair) = 210.00 Taka Shuvon = 190.00 Taka Shulov = 110.00 Taka

Here's a rundown of the Various classes on the Bangladesh Railway as I remember.
1st Class (Berth) = Usually means there is a hanging cushioned plastic leatherette type bed (to climb up and sleep for overnight journeys -- I think there are four berths to a room). 1st Class (Seat) = Seat means there's no berths of course -- again cushioned plastic seats. Shuvon (Chair) = There are chair cars on some trains (sort of airline style seating but cushioned plastic seats arranged facing each other in rows.) Shuvon = 'Shuvon' means decent seats, not great but OK. Shulov = Well 'shulov' means easy to get, i.e. 'economy' class. I'd stay away from buying this cheap a seat because these are wooden-slat bench type seats. Your butt will get sore very fast. In any case, the exchange rate is Tk. 60 to the US Dollar, so do your math :-) 1st class isn't all that expensive. Plus there usually shouldn't be any scammers, con-artists or pick-pockets in 1st class. |
