Annapurna Circuit and ABC Treks in Oct-Nov

hi, i am planning to do the Annapurna Circuit Trek followed by the Annapurna Base Camp Trek ( ABC ) this october or november. if october, then i probably would start around 6the oct from pokhara, if november, then i might start off around 14th from Pokhara.

i have a few questions, and will be thankful for any replies.

1) What all will i need to carry. i dont have a sleeping bag, and really hope that would be okay.

2) What is the situation in Nepal like. Will it be SAFE to go trekking in that area, alone.

3) Would the Thorungla pass be covered in snow in late November?

4) What are the general rates for logding and food like. What would be the daily expenses on the trek.

Would really appreciate all answers. Thx

1) I advise you to take a very warm sleeping bag with you. The higher the altitude, the colder it gets at night. You'd be miserable without one. Most teahouses provide a blanket but they're not clean. I usually put the blanket over my sleeping bag if it's very very cold. If you don't want to buy a sleeping bag, you can rent one in Thamel, Ktm. Also take a down jacket. Rent it.

2) It's best not to trek alone. Join up with another trekker. Look on notice board of Kathmandu Guest House, Thamel.

3) Safety/Maoists - well who knows? just do yr research and make up yr own mind. The probability is that you'd be OK.

4) Thorung La. This pass is very high and is likely to be covered with snow at any time. It depends on the winds/weather generally. The end of November is quite late in the year.
5) Expenses: I pay in advance for guide/porters so don't know the price of lodging and food. But I know it's not expensive.

Enjoy yourself! It's wonderful up there.
