Amritsar - Lahore - Amritsar

Hi

I'll be in Amritsar in September. I'll probably go the Wagah border.

A couple of questions:

1. Can I get a visa at the border to visit Lahore (probably a 24 hour visa would suffice),

2. Can I come back into India (at the same crossing) the following day without the formality of having to reapply for a new visa to re-enter India.

Can someone advise.

I don't know about the Pakistan visa, but when you apply for your India visa, specify "multiple entry" and you should then have no problem re-entering India, so long as the visa still has plenty of time before it expires.

I am planning the same day trip, and my research indicates that you will need a Pakistani visa in advance of your arrival at the border. Or at least that's the case for a US citizen. And I am requesting a multiple entry Indian visa.

When you get back, please let me know how it went. I will be doing the same adventure at the end of October.

You cannot get Pak visas at the border. You must get them in advance in Delhi. For this you'll need a letter of introduction from your own embassy. It should take around a week.
