Alternate trekking route to EBC
Hi All !
I have heard that The EBC trek in Nepal becomes too crowded. Is there any alternative to avoid crowd?
And how easy is it to get a plane ticket from Kathmandu to Lukla and vice-e-versa?

If you are fit and have sufficient experience you could go to EBC from Namche Bazaar via the Renjo La and the Cho La. The route would be: Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding - Namche Bazaar - Thame - Remo Pokhari/Lungden - RENJO LA - Gokyo - Dragnag - CHO LA - Dzongla - Lobuche - Gorakshep - KalaPattar/EBC - Lobuche - KONGMA LA - Chhukung - Dingboche - Tengboche - Namche Bazaar - Lukla - Kathmandu. It is not too difficult to get an air ticket to Lukla because several airlines fly there now. This is not a teashop route so you need to arrange for food, tents, guide and porters. But it is a lovely route, well worth the effort. Hope you can make it.
Thanks. I need to carry food for how many days? I mean which are the points you have mentioned where I need to put up a tent?
Hi,
You need to put up a tent between Thame and Dingboche. I have heard that there are small hotels which have come up in kalapattar too. But I ma not sure. Even if there are, I believe it would be quite costly.
It's advisable to take food and sleep in one's tent to reduce the cost.
I am planning to do this trek in May 2009 with slight changes. I won't be flying to Lukla, I will be crossing Tashi Lapsa La and meet in Thame and continue to EBC.
