Advise on travel to Cape Town, SA

Hi,
Just curious to find if anyone to south Africa recently .

Maybe, can share your experience, particularly in regards to security and safety aspect.

We are planning a trip in Dec ’09 to Cape Town but now getting worried after reading crime related stories on the NET. It appears that the crime situation in SA is a major problem for travelers.

Happen to read on the NET some nasty/horrible crime related stories even occurring in board daylight.

Can share what was your experience if you have been to SA recently ?

One option we are considering is to go for a fully escorted tour. How safe will it be If we decide to use the services of a escorted tour guide ? Will it narrow down the risk factor to some extent.

Hello, sproy, this is an INDIAN travel site! Maybe you should search for some African-related sites?

Thanks theyyamdancer for that valuable tip. I have done that basic researh on SA forum. Unfortunately, it seems to cater only for UK tourist.

I am keen to take in inputs from Indian travellers who have been to that place.
