What a great opportunity! I love Lucknow and maybe by next year you will consider accepting an old woman who is NOT a student as a guest!

WOW, i'd love to visit! Do you have broadband internet access? Unfortunately i'm restricted to places with good internet connection because of work related issues.

I'm planning to come to Lucknow for a few days in February, and this sounds perfect... I'm not a student anymore, unfortunately. Well not formally, anyway. I hope to always be a student of the world.

Lucknow is sooo beautiful! My husband is there now attending a wedding on the last auspicious wedding day of the year - lots going on now! Sorry to interrupt your thread but I saw Lucknow and just thought I'd chime in and say that if you've never been, what a great opportunity.

I visited Lucknow many years ago (1977), and I thought it was an interesting city with a nice blend of Hindu and Moslem influences. Their chikan kurtas (sp?)are renowned.

Yes, Lucknow was a nice stay for me some months ago when I was posted there (working at the airport) for a month. I managed to see a lot of places there and one of my favourites was the Lucknow Museum in the Zoo premises. I bought a lot of actual size plaster casts of the sculptures in the museum for a very cheap price. I also went to Nepal (and Tibet) from there on the advice of a local cycle rickshaw driver who stayed near the Nepal border!!! Lots of places to eat the famous Avadhi / Lucknowi cuisine and enjoy the architectural wonders of the old buildings like the Imambaras, Tombs / Shrines, mosques and gardens that are found all over the city. Internet cafes generally had good connectivity though they may not always have broadband connections. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.
