Bangalore Expatriate Club
Have you contacted the Bangalore Expatriate Club already? Check out the website at http://www.bangalore-expatriate-club.com/index.asp or shoot an email out to bangaloreexpatclub@yahoo.com
At last count they had members from 80 different countries. Where are you planning to open this bakery? Good luck! |

True Dani but it doesn't hurt to know there's competition and from a established player!
Still the expat community in Bangalore must be huge, certainly big enough to accomodate TWO French Bakerys! |

Daily Bread is a good name, but there is also a popular chain named Hot Breads... plus, since you are opening a French Bakery it would be ideal if you have a French name. That will bring curiousity, a lot of customers and will keep you apart. Remember, Indians have a fascination with all things non-Indian, and that can be both good and bad for the business (some will have outrageous expectations, some will be easily impressed etc.) Even in NYC having a French name brings in a lot of people initially at least. Just yesterday I was at a new bakery named BOUCHON...it was only okay.
Suggested names for your bakery: Chateau Pain or Pain Chateau (kind of cheesy, but works) Pain pain quotidien pain blanc Tartine (I like this) I'll think of some of the menu items soon.... |

i'd say go fo the up market,. Give it some fancy french name do the same with yuor products. Mass consumersim is just catching on in India and most locals do their shopping in super markets. You've got to diffrentiate yourself and give them a reason to pay a premium.

If you serve up Café au Lait and Beignets (yeast risen only please) and throw a comlimentary copy of The Hindu at me when I waltz in the door .... I'll be there with bells on at 6:00am or what every time you choose to open!
