Which hotel near Chennai airport?
In our 1st lap of India travel, we arrive at Chennai airport at 6 p.m. and must fly out at 7a.m next morning.
Looking for a mid range hotel, near airport. We tried booking at Mount Heera, but some reviews about it are bad. Are there any others near airport so that we don't have to waste time on ground transport? |

I stayed at Mars Hotel, which is close to the airport. They arrange a pickup and drop service to the airport, which would be very convenient for your travel times.
The cost is Rs. 990 for an AC double room. They also have non-AC rooms for 500Rs. A website to find them on is http://www.hotelschennai.com/hotels/mars.htm |

My back up plan if we're not met when we arrive in Chennai (a bit after midnight) by the person who is to have a place for us to stay is to first try the Mars Hotel. I wonder if anyone has other hotel suggestions that might work if such a problem occurs.

I think Mars is the only low-cost option near the Airport. But get ready for a smelly night, since beds and everything are not very well kept at that place. At least that was the case when I used it a few years ago. In case this is your first trip to India, no need to be shocked into the assumption that every budget place in India would be like that.

How is the Mars hotel?
I will be arriving in Chennai at 1:00 AM and leaving 2 weeks later at 4:00 AM. Consequently, I am looking for a room at or near the airport for those 2 separate nights.
A few people here have recommended Mars Hotel, so I checked it out on Tripadvisor. It only has 5 reviews, but all 5 are horrible reviews. Any current information on this hotel would be greatly appreciated. Or, any other recommendations would be terrific, too. |

Staying at Courtyard
Daniel - Thanks for the suggestion, but I have decided to stat at the Courtyard. Even though it's doesn't have much (if an anything) culturally to offer, I am using rewards points for a free stay.
Thanks again. |
