I mentioned Bella Ciao because it lists pork chops on its menu

I don't think pork is as popular with Tamil Christians as it is in Kerala or Goa but pork is eaten.

And this old thread mentions a couple of butchers.
Porkchops

I was actually looking for weekend getaways, not sure why I got porkchops as a result but it might help you!

I checked out a Japanese restaurant, in 2008 or 09, down Besant naggar way, attached to the restaurant was a food shop, and i am pretty sure it had pork chops and belly in the freezer------can't remember the name though

i guess, i have seen some roadside pork meat shop in north chennai near port areas & towards the north chennai thermal power station. but those may not be of good hygenic standard.
otherwise you may get processed pork meat in any spencers hypermart, you may try at spencer plaza or city centre-chennai.
if the pork meat is boiled properly & cooked well, there shouldnt be any problem of so called tape worms.

enjoy your dish buddy, & provide us the info where did you find it.

all good chinese restaurants of chennai have pork based dishes, so definitely corporation approved livestocks are available there.

Consequently, I've never looked for it, but I'm sure it can be found.

Mrs N says that the Anglo-Indian community eat it, and it is certainly available, but she can't name any shops. Anyway, there's a clue: Anglo-Indians.

Why? Pig is off the menu to one of India's minorities. Cow is off the menu to very many of India's majority religion, but would you have been surprised at a request for beef?

The most common cause of tapeworm infection, from pork, in humans comes from eating raw or under cooked flesh---cooking at high heat will kill all tapeworm if it is present in the flesh-------also freezing for 24 hours at at least minus 4F, will kill tapeworm
Just make sure you have your BBQ nice and hot and you will be fine.

@kanaiyaazhi - that link seem to be helpful, will check it out!

@rajatchakraborty - I know some Chinese restaurant will serve, but I am looking for a porkchop which I can made it myself, and not a ready-made from some restaurant.

@Ramy - Yep, its a travel forum, but this indiamike is pretty informative and helpful, specially for people like me who do not know much about the land, and why not to ask about where to find a pork/porkchop, now within 24 hrs of posting this, I already get few address where its possible to have a porkchop.

Now now, don't get to excited, there is a good reason why pork is hard to get in Chennai--a couple of billion people from a few country's and religions, have the heads up on the good information, and it would be probably fairly wise to take their advice. I don't chase pig or beef that much in Madras, because of those reasons, but a good supply of at least bacon, in Chennai would be nice.

Only clue is the "Fresh and Frozen Foods". This is 'default' place to by the varieties of the meat (fresh as well as processed) for expats and consulate people. Main outlet is located at 'Spencer Plaza' Phase III, first floor.

We are regular customers for more than 8 years.
