hey folks,
is it possible to go from chennai to kodai on the weekend and coem back by monday morning, in time for the office??
i am thinking of doing the kodai munnar trek on some weekend.

No, not possible.

There are 2 ways to get to Kodai from Chennai.

1. Take the pandian express that goes from chennai to madurai. the train leaves at abt 8 pm and reaches Kodai road junction at about 7.30 am in the morning. It is a few stations before Madurai.

From the kodai road junction, take a cab to kodai. You will take abt 2 hrs to reach kodai.

2. Second option is to take a bus. The bus leaves Chennai at about 9 in the night and reaches kodai at abt 9.30 - 10 am.

The return train at madurai is at 5-30 or 6 pm and you will reach chennai the next morning. So, for this u need to leave Kodai abt 2 to 3 hours ahead.

So, that leaves you with just 1 and half days in kodai. that is too short a time in kodai.

You try kodai when u have 3 days in all.

Why don't u try pondicherry instead. It is just abt 2 hrs from chennai. it is good weekend get away, but, not be a alternate to the heat. Pondy is equally humid.

i had been to kodai, munnar and pondy earlier also. what i wanted to know was will it be possible to undertake the kodai munnar trek in 1 weekend. but i guess this is not possible, as ur post says so. so i think i shld plan for pondicherry instead now. will try to hire a sumo/big car for pondi for a weekend, if i can get enough ppl. i think it will be better by car since the road is really too scenic . and in ur own car, u will have the freedom to take a dip in the beach whenever u want, wherever u want, all along the way
