Visit AVM Film Studios and others?

Hello,
I have read mixed reports about visits of Film Shooting Studios in Chennai. In the past years it seemed not to be a problem for tourists to visit or even to take part to shooting occasionaly but in the last reports that I read it seems more tricky, sometimes the security does not let people enter the place even to watch a shooting.
Could someone out Chennai tell us more about the status of visiting these studios?
Also what is the best way to get there from Chennai railway station?

i am not sure about the entry part ... i have lived for about 4 years near to AVM studios. I am sure ur allowed entry within the premises for there is also a go-karting zone within the studios. But i guess the actualy 'studio' used for shooting would be kept isolated unlike sometimes I have seen em shoot all over the place even outside on the road.

Most of these studios are situated in Vadapalani/Saligramam. You can get a prepaid taxi / auto asking for Vadapalani. It costs about 140 bucks in auto and about 250-300 in taxi. If your looking for an accomodation too , there are atleast 2-3 good hotels nearby Hotel greenpark , Hotel Aaditya and Hotel Maurya all of em very close to AVM Studios in particular.

There were a number of these studios all over Saligramam and ´Vadapalani before but now most of em are closes. Even Vijaya studios I believe has been partially demolished. There were some more Majestic , Bharani - all of them closed now.
