What a great job - to be a weather guy!

You say there is a 50% chance of rain tomorrow. How can you be wrong?

In Chennai you can very easily control the rain.

To start

Just schedule a one day/ test match

To stop

Declare holiday for schools

When is the heat going to end? I have been told that May is unbearable but GEEZ it is a steam oven out there!
Is June really that much cooler?

Thanks!

No, hardly at all. Unless we are lucky and get rain, which sometimes happen.

July August might be a little less, but temperature is still likely to be 35C-plus.

I guess things do start to feel cooler in September.

But, it is all relative, and if you came here from UK, say, in December even, you'd still be sweltering.

The worst thing about these April/June summer months is that even the wind, when it blows, feels hot, and that even the nights don't feel any cooler.

I still remember how we used to pray for a holiday to be declared every time it started pouring . Of course the school would extract revenge by scheduling the canceled classes on the very next saturday

Hi All. I'm a new member and this is my first post--hope that I'm doing it properly! Would appreciate your advice: I'll be scheduling a 2-week trip to Chennai for medical care and want to come in a good weather month so that I can walk outside for my rehab--what months have the absolute best weather? Oh, and steering clear of cyclones would be nice, too! Thank you!

If your medical care is time critical, then you don't have a choice. September, October is good. November during Diwali, it may rain. Avoid March-July, it is scotching hot but in my opinion Chennai doesn't really have winter because there have been times where in December too it can get hot but it is rare. I think September should be fine or even December is decent weather.

No problem bkcamp. I think September or December will be good. But flying during Christmas season from the US is the most expensive time to travel. So plan accordingly, traveling on day of Christmas or early December or after December 25th can be cheap for air-travel. I really wouldn't mind traveling in November because in Chennai all of us wait for the rain and it cools the weather a bit, but I understand you want to go out and walk. Actually even in the summer(March-July), if you want to get up early at 5:30AM or 6 AM and walk is also possible and fairly pleasant. At 7-730 in the morning the heat can set in. And we have not had Cyclones in Chennai for ages, the last I remember was in 1990..lol this makes me sound old.
