The best mode of travel are trains. Cheap, fast & efficient. Once you get down from the train, you can take an auto provided you know where you are going. As usual auto waalas may charge extra bucks if you not familiar with the place

Chennai auto drivers will charge you extra bucks even if you have been familiar with the place all your life!
