start North or South

Hi Everyone,

Well I am a newbie to this site so hang in there with me please.
I am no stranger to SEA having travelled Indonasia, Vietnam and just having spent 7 months in Thailand, Loas and Cambodia.
However I am under no illusion that I am in for a completly different and amazing adventure in India both good and bad.
I leave for Bali 16rh June for 10 days then onto Thailand from there plan to book my flight to India. My plan was to fly into Chennai and work may way thru the south up to the North and to fly back to Bangkok from Kolkata.
Being the hottest time of the year is not the best to travel but it's the time that I have and rather then miss out I will put up the the heat but what I am wanting to know from you folk that have been there from your experience should I start from Kolkata and work south or star Chennai and Work North???????
I am not on a time limit I would like to spend 3-4 months.

Sorry if this sounds a very basic question but I am running out of time

Hi Shell,

Welcome to IM. You could choose both, but if the ticketprice is not an issue I would start in the north and finish in the south.

You seem all set to land in India by July, which is not exactly the hottest time of the year, there may be some rains as well.

Unless we know the places that are you are going to visit, it is difficult to answer your question. Make a tentative plan and then the best route be found out.
