Are tank/spaghetti tops ok to wear - also generally in India?
Ok - in temples and such would cover my shoulders of course. I can wear salwar kameez normally... but when real hot i really can't and need my normal tops or t-shirt. Ex. of spaghetti/tank tops i mean... http://www.xmormondrinkingteam.com/catalog/images/spaghettifb.jpg |

Well, it depends where you are and what you do. I normally only wear tanktops/spaghettitops when I get in a car at home, and get out at a pub, where it is ok to wear them. I see western women wearing them in shopping malls. Some Indian young girls have also started wearing them now. I personally feel a bit uncomfortable in spaghettitops, I've gotten used to not showing a lot of skin. And since I am really white I don't want to stand out more than I already do!
If you are travelling alone it might feel more safe to dress conservatively.. But if you are in a beach resort for example it is ok to wear them. |

Thanks Mirjamd for fast reply
I don't mind dressing more "conservative" - so could also wear a normal T-shirt instead of the tanks.. but as i said, depends also from the temperature. I guess i'll have to look around and see how is the general way of dressing etc, and from there i can find out what's best to do. Probably living here in Holland for the last 10 years made my "italian heat tolerance" grew weaker... ![]() |

T-shirts are ok, you can wear them. And to be honest, in the Chennai heat it doesn't really matter that much what you wear, you will be hot anyway
I find salwar kameez actually one of the coolest things to wear, because they are usually thin cotton. But t-shirts are just as good in the heat. |
