Those are lovely pics, Mach ...if anything, a bit too complimentary. They make it look a bit like a posh heritage hotel in Pondicherry, rather than the slightly-seedy-but-charming run-down building it actually is

Hi,

My views on your problem.

For single working women in chennai, You would have two options
Rent a 1BHK flat for 3 months - Involves Advance, setting up of kitchen and other incidental expenses that come along with setting of home.
Or either you could be incredibly lucky and find a furnished apartment. I am sure for about 10k and good companion to search and scout for you, you would be able to identify a furnished apartment.

PG Hostel
There are lots of hostels around velachery area for working women and are safe.
Hostels are generally on twin sharing or triple sharing basis.
Your room would be small and you might be using bunk beds.
You can use the common facilities like fridge and internet and washing machine at no additional cost. These generally cost about 6-8k per month on a sharing basis.
If you would like to take a individual room, then the cost would double.

Third option - chk some sites like sulekha and see if any one is requiring a flatmate for a couple of months to share the expenses. Very low probablity.

trust the info helps in any small way.

cheers
ajay

Hm, well, that is unwelcome news, but good for you for trying, and I guess so we have that (re-) confirmed.

Here's one who will be boycotting the place in future, then.

Your task, Mach, is to find that old thread and update it, "nothing changed".

If you gave them a review in the hotel section, you might want to edit it.

secretdaughter, that's shameful and I'm sorry you've experienced it. It is not a nice introduction to the city. There are plenty of places that do not have such a policy. The trouble is that Broadlands is probably the best available at its price.

I had thought of that, but there must be many a thread where they get mentioned. Not sure if we should now call for an all-out boycott of them, and reviving all those threads in the process.

But if you mean I'm handy at searching here, sure, just let me know. I think Narendra linked to the other thread with his quoted post earlier above.

I don't think I reviewed them no (will check), but will edit my photo posts to that effect.

Dang, and here's me having tried to give them the benefit of the doubt... Oh well. If I ever see it pop up again, I surely won't (but so rather confirm with all the others what has been said for so long).

Hi secret daughter,
First of all, hats off to your contribution and your humble attitude. Its wonderful and remarkable. I understand your budget constraints, however a budget of INR 500 per day is decent enough. Getting a guest house or mansion, I'd say isn't a comfortable idea. Its always small, clumsy and costly. Best and sure shot technique :: www.sulekha.com. Its wonderful, crisp and responsive. Give it a go. Bless Narendra, he already suggested the URL. Another advice, you have a section where you can search for room mates. Infact lots od ads will be for search for room mates. Hunt for some good shared apartment and you'd get in option to make some friend too...
bless you for your good work.

For 500 a day , i do not think a decent accomodation is possible . Better way out is to rent an apartment for around 7-8 k pm for around 3 months . presume , you are single .. so you can get some el-cheapo stuff for bedding and cooking , else a furnished apartment is possible for around 12-15k . Know a few families who will rent out a room and also provide food for around 10k .
