Medical home for the aged - Chennai
Hi all,
I was wondering if someone can give me a tip! Are there centers in Chennai that provide accommodation and round the clock medical care for the aged? The only I can find are located on the outskirts of Chennai. My mum - 73 - is chronically ill. Staying at home alone - as always - is now not an option. Home nursing is not dependable plus is expensive. Thanks for all your help.

Found a very good home run by nuns south of Adayar and just off the ECR (East Coast Road).
Put my mum there over a year ago.
Let me know if you still are looking and can send you the details.

Thank you for the response. Yes please, I would be interested to receive information with regard to this home for the aged. I do have a few questions:
- Is it clean and well maintained?
- Is it a dorm or does your mother have a separate room?
- What about personal belongings like tv etc.?
- Medical care?
- Is your mother happy at this place?
Thanks again in advance for all the info. My mother doesn't want to move as is with the elders in India. She feels that we are abandoning her. I look forward to your response.

There is a home called Vishranthi, near St Anthony's Church. That's Palavakkam/Nilankari off ECR. The church is an easy landmark.
It is, I believe, charity, not paid. We made a small donation there a couple of months ago: it did seem pleasant.
By the way, the church is a landmark only. Actually, it is quite a way down the same road. It is not a church organisation.
I know one for men, in Adyar, which I think is run by church. At least, I don't know it, but I know of someone who seems happily settled there.
