List of yummy food places in Chennai

in that blog by rajesh he didnt mention about karpagambal's adai avial. one can also try adai avial at grand sweets, adyar(2nd main road, isuppose). also i like their paniyaaram. but they serve only in the evenings.
as diwali is aaround, FYI,
they are specialists in sweet and savouries and also all type of pastes(from veg) and pickles. if anyone needs sweets, thay have to order nowitself. In my OPinion, its better than anandha bhavan or krishna sweets
saravana bavan, vasantha bavan , apoorva sangeetha ,hotchips ...

god's own thali
hmm...this is about a place that serves a real vfm ( value for money)set lunch. Coconut Lagoon, above the once famous Amaravathy, is at the junction of TTK Rd., and Cathedral Road.
Don't go by the unimaginative decor. Don't go by the reputation of being another melting pot with nothing to reccomend it( once deserved), because the chefs have changed and the food is yummy. Again dont make the mistake of ordering a la carte. Just go for the Thali and you cant go wrong. You get a platter of the finest Idiappams( string hoppers) and fluffy Aappams and kerala red rice...all unlimited portions...with curries and gravies and a mild stew...all for approximately 80 rupees. Now if that isn't value for money, what is? The chairs are comfy, the air con works, and the waiters are reasonably efficient, but you are here for the food only, not the ambience. In case you want to try some add-ons, order sum 'kappa' ( a spiced tapioca mash, much like the kerala version of mash potatoes) with fish curry. That's a different charge, but well worth it.
Not much of a rush, parking space, and unlimited food on a limited budget are what this restaurant is all about.
Bon Appetit!

Yummy Places to Eat in Chennai
As has been noted by one other poster, wanted to vote for:
Cream Centre (Second Main Road, R. A. Puram, ph:42815777)
The have a very varied menu (Italian, Mexican, Lebanese, etc.) with good service and a great layout. Gets buys fast so try and arrive for dinner as close to 7pm as you can.
Maybe a little pricey as we spent, in early Feb 2009, Rs. 1550 for 5 people but quality, taste and presentation were very good.
Noted that they also have another location in Mumbai but did not have time to visit it when we were in Mumbai a week later.
Here is the link to their Mumbai location and it has their menu!

It looks interesting, but it's really bothering me why they call it the Cream Centre. Had it featured dishes with lots of cream I'd have gone there immediately. I'm disappointed..
Panna cotta, as served by Bell Ciao is pretty good for a cream addict!
Maybe it is a code that only those folks in Mumbai understand?
Luckily their culinary skills are much better than their English Grammar skills.
As for why they call it "Cream Centre" would not a rose by any other name still smell as sweet?
They have good food and good ambiance coupled with wonderful decor.
Wish I had gone to the place you refer to but it will have to wait until I am fortunate enough to visit Chennai again.

I have heard that copper point in GRT is supposedly good. This is purely hearsay!
I also like the mainland china (i.e. for Indian chinese) at Quality Inn Aruna.
In the end all thats left is a new beginning
I would also vote for 'Saravana Bhavan'. We can totally rely on the quality. Had several times even with my friends who comes from abroad (they went safe without any health issue).
