Is this the restaurant in Mogappair? If it's not, where is it? I sounds like a great place for a healthy meal!

Thanks for the addresses. I've been to the Mogappair branch once, and it was great. It was a bit confusing at first, because they started with some vegetables and chutneylike sauces you had to eat without rice, while I was waiting for them to bring the rice!
Will check out the Nungambakkam branch once I'm back in Chennai.

Been there once, I liked it... although a trifle expensive by Chennai standards

Any suggestions on a nice -- but not terribly expensive!-- place to go out for drinks in Chennai? I'll be here for my 21st birthday...

You can try 10 Downing street on North Boag Road in T. Nagar. They are an English style pub with reasonably priced drinks. On the same road you also find Bike and Barrel in the Residency Towers hotel.

Make sure you wear shoes though, they do not let you in with open shoes or sandals...

yes, it does only apply to boys. Sorry, silly assuming of me Girls can wear anything they like!

They do allow stags in 10 Downing Street, as long as you are not in a big group. But then it is not exact science and there are no official rules it seems. But as long as you are properly dressed are nice to the bouncers, and come with 2 or 3 guys it should be ok. At least they don't have the top floor for bachelors like Bike and Barrel does.

These dress restrictions make me sick. Absolute BS. They'll be asking for ties and business suits next!

(But then I wouldn't be going there anyway, so, whatever...)

I have walked out of clubs and resteraunts with dress restrictions, rather than wear the tie or a shirt with a collar they produce.

In Rostock, East Germany, long before the Berlin wall fell (or was felled) once, a night club accepted jeans, but only if they were American.

Talk about snob value, but the Soviet Bloc was like that with American stuff, including Wriggley's chewing gum. That was a status symbol in the early 80's Soviet Union

Hell, even Indian Chiclets (not what you are thinking ) were.
