List of yummy food places in Chennai
Don't you think Sandy's ia a bit on the expensive side? I mean a piece of brownie which costs Rs.170 is little difficult to enjoy eating.

Try their ravioli and steak and spaghetti bolgonaise. To die for. Everything's expensive, no doubt. But for the quality and taste of food, it's worth spending money like this

Cascade Restaurant Chennai
Greetings!!
I often used to visit this restaurant in Besant Nagar & ECR and have always enjoyed the food and service.Yesterday when i went there i as usual ordered for noodles and found two strands of hair in it.I asked the waiter to get it off the table and he did it at once.He also asked me if he can bring a fresh one but i was not happy to dine there after that,so i asked him to cancel it.Finally the bill arrived and the noodles was not charged. But the shock comes after that.I was charged Rs.116 as service charge in the bill.I called the manager and asked him if it was mandatory to pay the service charge in spite of going home hungry and un satisfied and the waiter boldly told me that it is to be paid.I had no other choice but paid.
My question here is, why should some customer pay a service charge when he is not happy with the service? More over who is the manager to decide that i must pat so much as service charge when they really dont deserve what they demand?

In those circumstances, I don't think walking out would be unreasonable. Depends how muscular the staff look.
Service charge is usually a percentage. Was it on the menu? Did they make you aware of it?
Cover charge is a flat amount person, regardless of how much you spend. This is quite a common Western concept, but not common here. I heard of it once.
Did you consume anything? No eating, no bill, is what I would say.

Checkout Hotel Firdouse on Triplicane High Road. One of the best 'Hyderabadi dum Biryani' in Chennai. Non-spicy, Non-oily and served with great attitude.
We accidently discovered the place, while returning from a walk to Marina Beach. It was awesome. Give it a try.

For those who want to taste some really yummy crunchy parotta. There is this wonderful shop in red hills, their mutton chops and parotta is to kill for. Whenever me and my friends go trekking to Nagalapuram we make it a point to have dinner there. Its a small roadside eatery best known for its 'Serva'.

We are travelling from Bangalore to Vellore for a conference. With a day to spare, Chennai will be fun. Will stay at Triplicane as always. Walk down to Marina. Goto red hills for the meat and parathas (or Parot-ta). So i guess, that is 360km one way !
