I am new to this site. I want to learn hindi(spoken hindi will do) during the month of April this year. My mother tongue is Tamil and I am good in English as well. I prefer to learn from anyone who is good in Hindi. I am a quick learner . I am open for a language exchange as well.

I am from Tambaram, Chennai.

Thanks!

Check out near Airforce station, Tambaram. There are a lot of Retired Kendriya Vidyalaya teachers who are teaching hindi there.

I am near IAF Tambaram only... But, I don't know whom to ask! I don't find any such ads or boards around here! Anyways, I will check it out, thanks!

And I feel, they may be teaching only to school kids! I am a BE graduate.. Do they teach to BIG kids like me!?

You should check out Dakshin Bharat Hindi prachar sabha in T Nagar. Their exams very popular and commonly taken by all south indians wishing to learn the language.

Although, it may not be possible for you to commute everyday from Tambaram, i think they can give you pointers to teachers in your locality who train students for these exams.

And you're not big at all! I took these exams when i was a kid (ten'ish) and had many class mates older than 40!

Do you wish to travel to Northern part of India.

Definitely we need to know Hindi, to travel to North, else it will be very tough.

IMHO...,Just English will do allover India...

Its not bad to learn any language.,

and for Hindi,

try to watch hindi movies and listen to hindi radio channels and
use hindi dictionary and socialise with hindi blokes..,

and this way, you can improve it....

I second this Might be possible in south India but definitely not in the north! (NOM)
Travel tales of an insatiable wanderlust-
Life is a journey ...

And I will take the road less traveled..
