Le Royal Meridien
How far is Le Royal Meridien hotel from T.Nagar? The address of the hotel is 1 GST Road, Chennai 600 016 India. I am thinking to book one night with my starwood points but if it is too far from shopping area I don't want to book it.

Chennai is not a very big city. Le Royal Meridien might be a compromise between need to the shops and near to the airport.
So much depends on traffic, but mid-morning to mid afternoon I guess it is 30 minutes or less by auto. It is at the junction of Grand Southern Trunk Road and Mounts Road and Jawahal Nehru Road, you can probably find it on Google Earth, Google Maps or Wikimapia. Mounts Road (Anna Salai) is the closest thing Chennai has to a main street, and getting to T Nagar is easy.

Dear fellow Canadian,
There are two Sheratons in town where you could also use your points. The Sheraton Chola and the Park Sheraton. Kind regards, Danie |

Nick- Thank you.
Danie- I will be using it in Le Meridien (even thougth the name does not say Sheraton , you can use sheraton points to book).I would have preferred to book Sheraton Chola or the other one but both are not available for points redemption. |

I lived at Le Meridien when we first moved here. You'll be comfortable there. The Sheratons are closer to T. Nagar but Le Meridien isn't an unreasonable distance.
Enjoy Chennai! Danie |

The two Sheraton hotels here are among our five-stars; very much more expensive.
There is more demand than supply for 5-star accommodation in Chennai, so I don't suppose they give many freebies. Le Royal (Chennaites pronounce it 'Lee Royal' ---English 'royal'; bear that in mind when telling cars and autos drivers to take you there!) has a good name, but I've never been inside, so good to hear the confirmation from Danie. |

Nick,
Sheraton, Meridien and W's are all part of the Starwood networks; all generally 5 star hotels. Although, Le Meridien and W's get progressively more expensive than Sheraton. Points accumulated at these hotels are usually good toward future stays at any of the same chains. Good tip with the English pronunciation. Danie |

I didn't know that, but I spend very little time in posh hotels these days.
(a lunch invitation to Fisherman's Cove recently was very nice ) |

if you need to know how far from t-nagar- i would say about 7Kms. its a better choice to try and stay at chola- more centrally located- but then again -you can redeem your points there!
