I would like to meet other foreigners in Chennai

Your fear and retrieve is completely valid... but I'm sure if u look around the good parts of city, you would find a lot of indians good at heart. I ain't from same state, m from N.India and m too a kinda stranger here.... but then I know these guys are so indian... meet good people and you would always remember them... warning: there are millions of them on any shabby street, but you need a sharp eye... don't try it. visit some malls and get aquainted with some folks... U know they celebrate the life... though wierd, but so indian way

Trust me, u r here where be it English, Indian, American or any creed. People use cheap tricks and they do it with authority. They assume they fly on the other end of every law... Don't panic... relax, and open up... here is a world so warm... U want friendship ( of cors m not talkin any other relation ), thats the only thing abundance here, apart from population. So chill... happy findin.. it ain't difficult.

Oh coming back again.. try havin an eve walk on beaches and the adjacent places like triplicane, chepauk etc... Its a haven for many N.indians and hundreds of tourists. God I love this place, though horrible crowded, awkward and kinda wierd. Perhaps you might find a backpackin tourist or couple of them who forgoe their sun scren and wanna have some company to complain bout it.. I always love the way, the tourist are so gently reactive here...

I do not know which part of chennai you are in, Visit Triplicane..You will find lot of tourists from English speaking countries..

I don't think Jean-Phillip and I quite count as "foreigners" any longer!

Try checking out the OWC (overseas women's club) in Chennai. I am a member and it's helped me find expat friends, as well as locals.
