How many Sarvana Stores in T Nagar,

Today I went to Ranganathan Street, T. Nagar. I found many Sarvana Stores, Earlier I have been to the 7 storey sarvana stores in Panagal Park , Below the flyover, I found it having a good collection of maximum items, at damm cheap prices. But the surprising thing is in Ranganathan Street I found around 2-3 sarvana stores, one named sarvana stores, one selvarathna sarvana stores and so on. Even in Ranganathan Street there is one Jayachandran Textiles and in Panagal Park, the flyover road, also there is one jayachandran textiles , someone clarify

I think there is more than one store owned by Saravana (including the one that had the fire; is it still closed?) --- but then, I think there is more than one store owner called Saravana.

Confused? You will be...

But anyway... You went to T Nagar, and Ranganathan Street in particular, just before Divalli? Brave, brave man!

Not that brave, I did not went on weekend, holidays so the crowd was obviously less, on one weekend evening I had seen a crowd right upto the road.

Actually had literally spent around 2-3 hours in the big new sarvana Stores 7 storeyed one, for shopping, having good range,

Also you chose a Tuesday, which, more than it being a weekday, would have explained the lesser crowd. A lot of Chennaiites won't shop on a Tuesday, and, I guess, those would apply this even more so to festival shopping

Well,

Its a superstition of a particular group that tuesday is not a auspicious day for buying new things.

Do you know that leading gold shops will be closed on Tuesdays because people will not buy gold on tuesdays.

And yes, Not everyone believes the same.

Whilst I suppose the Divalli shopping should be restricted to Hindus, I've often found that there is a an attitude of not missing a good party regardless of who is giving it about festivals and enjoying them. Of course, the special offers and discounts also attract all, regardless of religion.

There was a time that many of the T Nagar shops thought they may as well close on Tuesdays, as their take was 30% less than other days. Mostly, they didn't stick to it, though, but Tuesday remains an auspicious day to shop for those of us who dislike crowds

Oh. Right... Fire escapes? Sprinklers? Better conditions for staff? Anyone get prosecuted in the end (I recall someone was arrested)? No? I thought not ...
