Question Hotels in Chennai

Hi,
I need to know if Buhari's Hotel on Anna Salai, just across the music instrument store Musee Musical, is OK? Not too dirty or not too expensive?
I am a woman, traveling alone this time. Used to India, though...
I'd like to stay there one night to rest up before buying some instruments.

Also, is there a hotel near the train staion that is OK? Map?
(OOOps, I don't know if there are several train stations? I'll be taking a train from Chennai to Mumbay.)

Thanks, Chennai specialists.

chennai has two main train stations. 1. Central Railway station which caters to Most trains bound North of chennai. You will arrive most probably to this station from Bombay by train.
2. Egmore railway staion 2kms away from Central catering to all south bound trains.

Decent Hotels are available in and around these two railway stations. Buhari is Okay and moderate in terms of cleanliness and amenities.

Correction... which train station you will arrive/depart from/to Bombay depends on the train. Can you tell us which train you will be taking and when?

This train will use Chennai Egmore from Aug. 1, and Chennai Central till then
- (from Aug 1 2008) Chennai Egmore - 2163/64 Dadar Chennai Exp

The following will use Chennai Central
- 1027/28 Mumbai(Bombay) Mail
- 1041/42 Mumbai Exp

My intention is not to confuse you, rather to provide more accurate information since Chennai might be a bit confusing to a person who is not sure of where (s)he is!

There are good hotels around both stations and elsewhere in the city.

You could stay in Triplicane(closer to your music shop) or General Patters Road(even closer still)

Hello,

If your budget permits it, Taj Connemara Hotel is also a good option. It is located just off Anna Salai, behind Spencer's Plaza, and a 10 minute autorickshaw ride from Egmore railway station. I believe it is just a short cab/auto/bus ride to Musee Musical.

Check out Google's map for a better idea:

Hope that helps!
