Home for dog in Chennai?
Greetings.
I am writing to you with a situation at hand. I am an animal lover and especially fond of dogs. I came across an injured street dog (hit-and-run case). I organised medical help for her, fed her, and after two months, now she is completely fine. I continue to look after her and have grown very attached to her. Unfortunately, because of my work I will not be in Chennai for few months. Therefore, I am looking for a dog-home/safe place where I can keep my dog till the time Iam away. I do not have any family in Chennai. I will look forward to your mail and would be grateful for a positive response. Thanks and with Regards, Vijay |

What a good thing you did, and I hope you'll be rewarded by finding a suitable doggie-sitter for while you're away.
I wish more people would have some empathy for those poor street dogs. I'm confused! Are you in Chennai or Bangalore?

Iam based at Bangalore..I was at Chennai..the dog is in Chennai. The dog is about 7 years old, as the docs said and perhaps lived all her life in same street. Now I've to move out of Chennai, so Iam seeking help for her

I do hope you have some luck finding somewhere nice for her, but it would be even nicer if she could join you in Bangalore.

I changed the thread title slightly.
Not everyone looks to see what forum a thread is in; I know because I don't. (and, sorry, but cat count back to three, and they are quite enough to handle just now. Mrs N would rather have had a dog, but it didn't work out that way)

You can try Blue Cross. They always welcome abandoned or so called pie dogs till they can find new family for them!
You can try 197 Directory Enquiry for their number! You may have to take her there once they accept! |

I once heard from a lady that cared for a number of street dogs that she took them to any kind of shelter only as a last resort, as few survived. She said they cannot afford vaccinations, and infections spread fast.

Very true about Indian shelters. I have heard this from people who run shelters as well.

That's very true. I know of one family that kept getting cats from Blue Cross. It wasn't until the 6th cat that one survived because they came out so sick.

There's a focus for an animal loving philanthropist with som regular cash to spare: finance distemper, etc, injections for the dogs at a Blue Cross Centre.
But its true also of getting animals from pet shops in UK; very often they come with sickness and a short life span. Why anyone would ever buy a kitten from a shop when all they need to do is ask their local vet for an address where someone is looking for homes for some, I have no idea. |

So true. We've made a point of always getting our pets from shelters, "home wanted" signs, animals we've found under our car, or off the beach. Not all in the same country

Unfortunately, people look for 'pedigree' in their pets and in their royalty.
And horses. |

People who want pedigree go to kennels and catteries --- not pet shops

). Most animal shelters are now receiving lots of pedigree dogs & cats because people buy them as a fad but are quick to dump them when they have enough or a new fashion appears. For example the Hutch advert is creating lots of sales of pugs. So if you want a German Sheppard, Doberman, Pomeranian, Pug, Labrador, Persian Cat or any other "pedigree" just visit your local animal shelter. If they do not have what you are looking for you can ask them to call when they get one in. I hope Vijay finds a good home for his dog. And kudos for saving its life! ![]() |
