Anyone know where I can get oysters, clams, and some different type of mushrooms other than those white button mushrooms here in chennai?

Thanks

Please don't ever use the title "help" unless you are in dire need of some kind of help, need doctor, hospital, lost a friend or relative. It's also against India Mike's rules to use it for assorted trivia--even if finding mushrooms isn't trivial to you .

If you can, change your title to Help in Finding Mushrooms or something like that--otherwise a moderator will have to do it.

I would imagine that eating bivalves in Chennai(unless frozen and imported)is a dangerous pastime. They would have to be collected locally to be fresh and there would probably be no regulations as to where they are harvested and the quality of water etc that they have been living in. I am not too fussy around food, but clams etc for me would be a certain no go food in a tropical densly populated area.

Absence of mushrooms can be pretty urgent !

I've occasionally seen other kinds of mushroom --- and it would have been in one of the CP Ramaswamy Road supermarkets (Spencers or Nilgiris), near where I used to live. Unfortunately, I find that, since Foodworld re-branded as Spencers, their stock is more restricted.

There is an organic veg shop in 2nd Main Road, Kasturba Nagar, Adyar. I had a look around it two days ago, for the first time. I don't remember anything but the regular button mushrooms, though.

Nick-H- Yea I used to find a lot of good produce in Foodworld but now xince they have rebranded to Spencers, their stock seems to be more limited.
