Has anybody stayed at TTDC Hotel Tanilnadu in front of Central Railway Station. I find no photos , reviews and even no online booking for this hotel on TTDC site.
It seems to be most convenient location for me but want to know the current condition of this hotel.

The tariff/contact details are available here. Call them to know the details. My suggestion would be either Hotel Palmgrove or Hotel New Woodlands, which are located at 5 km from Central Railway Station.

The response from other forum was also negative"at the same or a little extra cost you will find much better places on WallTax road adjacent to the Railway station.
I never stayed in the TTDC Hotel you mentioned but have heard from a friend that it is not clean and the staff too are not happy to deal a guest from outside, unless you got the room through some recommendation of some senior officer from TTDC
Strongly feel that you must avoid it"
So there will be new search
TTDC online booking
I booked a room in a TTDC hotel through their website. Within a few days, there was an attempt to misuse my credit card online. I can not say for sure that the online website is the reason my card data was stolen. But this was the only transaction I had made on this card in the past few months. So I would advise everyone to watch out and be alert if you plan to use ttdconline
TTDC hotels suck like a Dyson because of the bad attitude and non existent service and total apathy. They do have very decent properties in prime locations but the people who work there are a different story. They just don't give a rats ass and customer service is virtually non existent. It is sad to see how these TN government run tourism hotels are very poorly managed and pathetically run and the people who work there think of their pay check as govt entitlement and grant.
Given the properties as such are decent (if maintained and run properly) and usually in prime locations of the city, a group of baboons can do a better job of running TTDC hotels than the people who manage them now and have managed them in the past.
They have some really nice hotels in great spots, Mahabalipuram for one example and its in a great location and good building too. But sadly, it is managed and run by primates so it is only as good as the neanderthal cromagnons who run it.

FYI - I have not yet stayed here, but intend to in May 2012.
I asked TTDC Online over e-mail & they mentioned that this hotel cannot be booked online, one needs to call the hotel directly (number is available on the TN Tourism website). For a confirmed reservation, you would need to make a payment by sending DD to the hotel, however in my case the reception guy was nice enough to suggest a TN Tourism office in my city where I can make the payment & confirm the reservation. I did need to waste my time travelling to the office, waiting for it to open, waiting for them to attend to my need, waiting for them to do the paperwork, withdraw cash from ATM, and finally pay 50 Rs as service charge
Please note that this hotel is a Youth Hostel, not exactly a business or tourist hotel.
It would be best to go to these Govt hotels for the only thing they are good for - location!!!

Like I said before, TTDC hotels are a goddamn disgrace and run by incompetent people with bad attitude. A bunch of Orang Utans can run them better.
They have properties in prime locations but they have shit for brains people running them into the ground with bad attitude and poor and almost non existent customer service.
I bet people from top to bottom in the tourism dept are swindling all the budget money and leaving the guests high and dry with poor equipment and no service.
