Hakka Chinese food in Chennai
I love Chinese food - especially the Indian Chinese (Hakka) kind. When I used to work in Chennai, most every night we had Fried Rice or Noodle at a Fast Food joint....Old beaten up trucks with a gas stove or a roadside metal hut...food made with ingredients that were diced all day long. Even today when we visit Chicago we make it a point to go to either the Inchin's Bamboo Garden (or) Hot Wok Village.
Which Chennai restaurant best satisfies your Chinese cravings??? I am looking for feedback on which Chinese restaurant you like most in Chennai. This need not be the most authentic Chinese restaurant. Instead it must be the one that serves the best Indian Chinese food. Foods like sweet corn chicken soup, american chopsuey, chili/gobi chicken, chili/gobi manchurian, tiger prawns, black pepper chicken.......to name a few. The person is obviously asking for Chinese restaurants in Chennai no, notably of the so-called (in India, at least; it remains to be seen how much this has to do with the real Hakka cuisine) Hakka variety, possibly in simple roadside eateries.
Which part of it didn't you understand? Sorry Bergcy, I have no immediate suggestions myself. See also Wikipedia on the subject: Quote:

Updated the question
Risingsun (btw, my favorite political party) - I have updated the post with some more information. Let me know if that helps. I am not sure my stomach can handle the roadside food anymore. Given that I will be in India for a short time - I'm hoping visit some proven and safe joints that you would recommend.

Chinese in India
Machadinha,
I can't agree with you more...Chinese food is the most common food in the World and they do that by adapting to the different tastes of the region. Did you know that there are three times more Chinese restaurants in US than McDonald's? |

Following are the few Chinese Restaurants in Chennai, Which I have personaly visited....
Cascade, Nungambakkam High Road, Chennai (My Rating - Very Good) Noodle House, Opposite to Satyam Theater & Sterling Road, Nungambakkam (My Rating - Excellent) Lui's Waldorf, Near IIT, Opposite to CLRI, Adyar (My Rating - WOW) These are the three places, I can vouch for as they are very good in Authentic Chinese food. Other than this, We have Mainland China, Hotel Tulip Aruna Complex, 144/145, Sterling Road, Nungambakkam |

This is the 2nd time Noodle House is mentioned. I will certainly keep it on my list and hopefully visit them. It does help that there is a branch in the Spencer Plaza food court.
Lui's Waldorf - remember vaguely having fish ball soup once. I just realized - one could spend a whole year in Chennai eating outside and never visit the same restaurant twice. |
