Golf in Chennai

Hello...

Could someone write about your experience of Golf in Chennai, how good or how great it was and are there people who are currently pursuing golf, could someone give me best way to go about golf in Chennai.

Hey Shiv!

I am also a beginner (only owned my set of clubs for a week!) and just tried AKDR on the OMR - it was a nice driving range. The course seems like the ideal spot for a beginner but my "seasoned" golfer of a husband said that it looked more like a putt putt then an exec course.

We plan on checking out a new golf spot this weekend as well, I think it is in Guindy? I'll let you know if it is a good spot.

Thank you for your message ! I did call up a guy in guindy golf spot for the information, but yet to visit it ! Please do let me know if you think Guindy spot is better than the OMR.

Hello Shiv,

The Golf Course is not in Guindy. It is in Nandanam. Its the YMCA Golf Course and the best in Chennai.

There are two 18 hole golf courses in Chennai. Cosmo Club and Guindy (at the Guindy race track). AKDR, on the OMR road, also has a par-3 9 hole. Cosmo and Guindy both have a long history - both over 100 years old. Hope you have time to make it out to one, or both!!

The driving range is 220yds....which is at least a 3-wood for me. In the tiny course you could do with less than even a pitching wedge.

After playing for 3 years, I tried replacing the pitching wedge(52')with a sand wedge(56') around the greens. It was painful at first but has worked well for me. Maybe the November trip would be a chance to try the 60 degree lob wedge...

Good course to improve the short game. I'm terrible in the short game area...
