First Bus to Pondy

Does anyone know when the first bus to Pondy is from Chennai - I land at 1 am at the airport. Do they run all night or will I have to wait till 6am.

Also from the airport where is the best place to catch the bus from - is it Tambaram or are there better alternatives.

I'd rather not take a taxi all the way if I don't have to.

The first bus to Pondy leaves Koyambedu bus terminus @ around 4 AM. Tambaram or even Pallavaram is a good place to catch the bus, go there if you are comfortable with that idea. Else take a taxi to Koyambedu and catch the first bus out of there.

Is there one from there? Someone said the bus' name is ECR but not clear on whether that's the name of the route, co. or what.
This is closest to Besant Nagar.

'There' refers to what?

The bus and the route name are the same ECR(East Coast road). The closest stop to Beasant Nagar would be Madhya Kailash stop or Thiruvanmiyur stop. By the time the bus reaches these stops, it will usually be full.
