Question does anyone know the tourist home in chennai?

I am coming to Chennai next week and my roommate made a reservation here for me
Tourist Home
45, Gandhi Irwin Road, Egmore, Chennai - 600 008.

He is not from Chennai(but he is Indian) and I think he just went to a website and found me a place for 600 rp. He has been really sweet about it nut I just wonder if anyone from there has seen this hotel and can give me some feed back. I get there late in the evening after a 22 hours flight I hate ending up in the "wrong" hotel.

Thanks

howzit?
i was in chennai (well, still am...) for a month and staying in hostels until i found a permanenet place. we ended up visiting about every place in the guide books. it's no better or worse than anywhere else: they're all about the same. there is a difference between the various rooms in each 'hotel' though, so don't take the first one they give you. also, there's a bunch of cheap places on that street, so if you don't like it just check out some of the others.
we went to broadlands, as most people do, because egmore was a bit too mental for us. not that triplicane is quiet...
one peice of advice that i wish someone had given us: after a week at broadlands our room was reserved so they moved us. however, they moved us to one of the two best rooms in the place: there's two, almost small apartments, on the roof, maybe rooms 41 and 42? bright, surrounded by bwindows, cool and airy, and private- you can sit out in the evening and chill.
good luck. it's full on here.
